CoilÓg Eventing
CoilÓg Equestrian Centre is owned and run by the Byrne family in the heart of the thoroughbred County of Kildare. Set on 18 Acres in Crosspatrick,
Since their inception in 1988, CoilÓg has evolved with the ever-expanding requirements of the equestrian industry. Starting out as a stable yard, CoilÓg turned its interests towards teaching both adults and children. In 1992 CoilÓg formally became known as CoilÓg Eventing Centre. From there, the riding school developed into a full livery yard with exceptional facilities to meet ever expanding requirements of the riding school industry.
Due to the rural location of CoilÓg and the low density population in their catchment area at the time, they made a strategic decision to wind down the riding school and focus their efforts on competitions, training and supply of facilities for the equine market.
Today, CoilÓg is one of the largest and most successful equestrian centres in Ireland. They cater for local and club level shows, international shows, lectures, conferences, and corporate events. They provide full catering facilities and complete solutions to your eventing needs.
In all CoilÓg have five arenas dressed in our Cushion Track range of all weather surfaces.
Toowoomba Turf Club – Queensland Racing
Amidst great controversy, the synthetic Cushion Track at Toowoomba Turf Club, Clifford Park, Toowoomba, was officially opened for racing on 11th July, 2009.
The new Cushion Track replaces the original turf track and unlike Sunshine Coast Turf Club at Caloundra where the turf track remained, the Cushion Track at Clifford Park now becomes the course proper and will be the subject of scrutiny by other racecourses in Australia who are also considering the move to synthetic.
The driving force behind the choice of Cushion Track was in it’s ability to stand up to drought. There have been drought conditions prevailing in Toowoomba for the past six years and the situation doesn’t look as if it is going to break.
11,000 tons of Cushion Track have been laid at Clifford Park and the supplier, Cushion Track Australia have contracted to maintain the track for the coming 12 month period. This will ensure a smooth transition in the maintenance of the synthetic surface from more conventional track work.
Sunshine Coast – Queensland Racing
Corbould Park, Queensland has become the first racecourse in Australia to boast a new Cushion Track surface. The course was recently completed and the first races were held on the new track on the 6th April 2008. The Cushion Track course has been installed to replace the old sand track, and has a 1760m circumferance. In Australia, water shortages are becoming an increasing problem so the owners of Corbould Park are very enthusiastic about the decreased watering that Cushion Track requires. Leading Sunshine Coast jockey Ken Pope was very positive about the new surface:
“The track was consistent the entire way round and you could feel the cushion under the horses which relieves the jar from both horse and rider”.
Queensland Hall of Fame trainer Bruce McLachlan was equally enthusiastic:
“This is the best track surface I’ve seen in the world.”
1/09/09 A record 90” of rain fell on the Cushion Track at Sunshine Coast Turf Club since Jan 2009 with 13” falling over 2 days in May. Racing was not affected.
